Volunteering

    I am unemployed and can not seem to find a job after a few interviews. I am so bored of sitting at home, anyone know of a place to volunteer around the city. I might as well try help someone with my spare time :(

    Hi there,

    Why not try to become a Leader for DLS Scouts or something like that? They provide a brilliant service to over 230 kids and have 70 leaders. It would look good on your CV too I think.

    It's something I've been thinking of too recently. The novelty of being unemployed is starting to wear off. I don't know if I'd be cut out for the brothers of charity or samaritans though, I'd imagine both would have a lot of responsibility.

    Sorry to divert your post, but is it true that you cannot claim doe if you are volunteering, as you are not technicaly available to work?

    I think you can but you need to get a letter from the social saying its ok.

    No offense but I did not ask about my entitlements that is my business, I have checked and I am looking for info on a place to volunteer so please stay on topic.
