Some questions; I'm about to be moved onto JSA. I have some savings, mostly from a redundancy payment. I'm part time on a postgrad until next september.

My wife has a good job and is well paid. She also has some savings.

    1. On the JSA application form, there is a section to submit any savings. Do i jsut add my savings to my wifes savings and give a total figure?

    2. Are all savings declarable? For example both of us have savings accounts which can't be touched for 5 years - i.e. they mature at that time. Are these taken into account, as it essentially money that I can't access?

    3. I know about being assessed on the the first 20K of MY savings etc; whats the level of income my wife needs to be above to disqualify me from getting anything at all?

This is the only question I can answer, with a weekly net income of about €500 and 1 dependent child, my partner was given €37 per week JSA as a result of means tested.

    We had no savings.
