    Just a quick Summary,
Have always suffered terrible period pain pms etc!! Had my daughter in September 2010 had Mirena coil fitted in September this year and since have had awful mood swings and even worse pms. Spoke to my nurse yesterday about getting it out and she suggested to leave it for the year so it can settle and try reduce sugar and caffine in my diet ( I have an awful bad sweet tooth for chocolate and would drink a good bit of tea!!) My question is does anyone have any advice on vitamins I could take aswell and foods that might satisfy my sugar cravings?

Yeah it'll take awhile for your hormones to settle down with any new contraception.

Lots of essential fatty acids to help with inflammation.
Lots of calcium (helps with breast tenderness).
Depending on your diet, eats lots more foods with iron.
Magnesium helps with relaxing certain muscles.
Try herbal teas, chamomile, raspberry leaf, there's a Chinese herb called Dong Quai you can drink as tea too.
Try to get the foods in order at least a week before TOM due.

My biggest thing is to try to remove any stress around that time, usually harder to do than say though. Especially with a toddler around.:)

Thanks a Million for that at least now I have an idea where to start!! I know myself that the amount of sugar etc effects it i eat far too much chocolate so I'm really gonna make a go of it now!! The mirena is so so handy apart from the mood swings :)

On the chocolate thing I can so easily overeat on chocolate, even 85% dark chocolate bars I can over eat on(even 90% but only a little) The best thing I've found (and I've only recently found it) is chocolate protein bars. I pick ones with little sugar, that are under 250calories because it has protein in them they fill you up alot more than a normal bar and you get that chocolate taste. Even though you could probably find a chocolate bar with less calories, protein bars are much healthier and you don't have that voice in your head giving out to you for eating chocolate/sugar.

I'm not too sure about this but evening primrose oil is meant to be good for pms, I was on it for a bit but that was about 10 years ago now(crap I feel old:() I don't really remember if it even made a difference. I think one well known supplement company(who's name I've forgotten) do a pms pack, it has the oil and I think a B vit?
