When I plug the PS3 dualshock controller into the PS3 to charge I get this message 'the maximum amount of power that can be supplied to usb devices has been reached, please remove at least one usb device' but I have nothing in it.

Now i know you can charge them through the PC etc but I don't want that as my R2 button is broke and I was going to invest in a new controller but no point if I can't pair it up with my PS3! I've also tried my mates controller and cable and that hasn't worked either so I know it's my PS3's USB port. I googled it and couldn't fiind a solution. Anything I can do to fix this lads?

    Thanks in advance.

Have had the same problem for awhile now. Don't have answer I can give you as to how to fix it unfortunately. Right proper nuisance though as you can't play properly when charging the controller as any type of forceful movement and the controller turns itself off or starts flashing.

Right after an hour so trying to figure out the problem I left the ps3 on without any usb's in it, I got my controller and charged it from my laptop for about 10 minutes, I then ejected the controller and put the usb into the PS3 and connected the controller and the thing works as normal, have you tried this Ade?
