was going to change a diesel pump from one ford to anther ford(same model)the one i taken off isn't pumping diesel anymore because of watery diesel. have never taken one off before noticed marking on side of pump?is this to level it?and could the water have damaged the injectors?

Get a mechanic who knows what they are doing to help ya, timing on an engine, you don't always get a second chance......

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I presume you mean the injector pump (not the smaller fuel lift pump with the glass bowl / priming handle ?) its not overly difficult to time the injector pump but if you hav'nt done it before or seen it being done its safer to get a mechanic, it should only take them 20 minutes

Those marks are the timing marks, do it yourself if you know what you're doing. If not get a mechanic or you'll end up with worse than watery diesel :(
