Should the government pay to accommodate all of the increasing homeless sleeping rough in Ireland?

Or should the prospect of homelessness be preserved to discourage the increasing working poor from demanding their rights, better working conditions and wages?

Is it not economically viable to tear up the safety net entirely?

House them all in ghost estates. It's not like NAMA will be selling them any time soon.

They are in the process of trying to get some appropriate NAMA properties, the governemt can't just do what they wish with them I've been told.. which makes no sense but anyway.

There is no instant solution if you just put every homeless person in housing altogether at the same time at the same place, long term if you're homeless you need to be reintergrated into the community it would be like living in a large scale hostile but you would be living in a very segregated community.

I know any homeless person would prefer to be in their own place anywhere than on the streets or in a hostil but the housing comes in drips and drabs and I can't see that changing.

there is no need for anyone to have been homeless the last ten years

    better than the street

perhaps but a roof is the first part to reintegration. Then support to immediately stop drink/drugs. no point giving a house to anyone who has as prime motivation the purchase of drugs unless that is addressed

That is why i think Trust is bit a joke. Sleep out and we will give you tea/help/shower/ medical help in the morning...if you do not die of the cold
