I recently a Xoom, after a few weeks deciding to get a data plan, I purchased a meteor Sim today. I have put the Sim in and the tablet does not recognise that a Sim has been inserted. This was a US Verizon tablet, would this be locked only for Verizon Sims.
    anyone got any ideas, thanks

verizon does not use 3G technology. it uses lte technology only. it does not work on gsm phones and tablets over here.

verizon uses lte technology, a high speed technology confined to the USA and possibly Japan. uk are planning to bring it in with O2 testing in London but I don't think we will ever see it over here.

At the very least you'll have to flash the firmware with one that supports GSM.
If you're lucky, the hardware may support both once it has the right modem driver.
I wouldn't hold out too much hope though.
