    Hi All

So my iphone got wet :-( I have tried the rice in hotpress ect nothing works.

It turns on and the apple logo appears and says connect to itunes, however my pc is then not recognising the iphone when i plug it in.

It also turns off as soon as I plug it out.

Im not covered on my insurance as I purchased from a third party.

Is there any hope of getting it fixed anywhere, i would not be able to take it apart myself.

    can anyone help??

SO the phone has come back on and went through a restore only to get the message afterwards, there is something wrong with your iphone and it cannot be activated, oh dear god now it just stays on the connect to itunes screen or make emergency call.

    Any ideas

hmm this is a hardware failure message, this means that there has been corrosion on the motherboards.

Taking the motherboard out and giving it a bath in paint thinner can fix it, but to be honest it sounds like the on board memory chip is damages, hence why you can turn in on to the bios, but not into the main operating system.

How wet did you get it, because I have heard of phones taking a dip for a few min and surviving. Did you drop it at the same time? Because I had an iPhone 4 that fell and had the exact same symptoms.

Last question, are you still under warranty?

I water damaged a 3GS early this year and sent it for repair in GSM Solutions on Abbey st. From memory they charged something like 120/130 but I can't be sure. I'd snap at an apple offer of a fix for 160.

Thats a bargain, water damage on the iphone 4 is usually unfixable
