Looking at my usage settings on my iPhone 4 8gb, and I notice it says:

    Capacity 6.37gb, 3.7gb free.

Why is the capacity 6.37gb and not 8gb as it's sold as?

Am I being robbed of over 1.6gb?

the iOS takes up a % of your overall iPhone capacity!

The 16gb version of the 4s comes with 13.6gb capacity as far as I know.

Ok thanks folks. I knew alright he iOS would take up space, but had no idea it'd be anything near what it has taken up.

    From my understanding.
Manufacturers sell storage based on 1GB=1000MB, 1MB=1000kb, etc.
Hard drives, flash drives, etc formatting structure is like this: 1GB=1024MB, 1MB=1024kb, etc.
So your 8GB iphone is more like 7.4GB with your file table(fat32 or whatever apple devices are).
IOS5 which I think is about a 700MB download so I'd imagine it's hogging about 1GB of the space installed which would bring you down to approx 6.4GB

I could be just talking b***** mind you:eek:

You're fairly right on the button Cathal. It's down to 1gb not being 1024mb on most devices now!

BTW, bought one of the bumper cases off you there about an hour ago!
