Renault Megane (2003) Not starting

My wife has a 2003 Renault Magane which is not starting.
When I insert the key card and press the 'start' button I hear what I think is the fuel pump buzz into action but then nothing. The immobilizer light comes on and the car does not even turn over. I have it recorded in this video:

This problem actually happened before about 4 months ago and cost 400 to to repair. I don't don't know how it was repaired but when I look under the bonnet all the wires are freshly tapped up so they must have done something under there.

I would appreciate any DIY suggestions for repairing this as I'm not prepared to put another 400 into it. There have been a few other electrical problems with the car and It's cost me a fortune already.

Are you pressing the clutch to start as normal?

Try pressing the brake pedal while starting it.

Are you using the clutch or brake pedal? Try both. Any idea if the battery is ok?

Yep Pressing clutch, brake and car is in neutral as always. Was starting ok a week ago. Battery is about a year old. I changed the first time I had this problem. I called the mechanic who fixed it the last time but he didn't want to give up any info.

Hi OP, my wife had a 2005 Megane and we had that problem also so we were advised to have the fuel pump changed which we did only for the same thing to happen again a few months later- it was very temperamental and in the end we got rid of it think it was some kind of electrical issue with the wiring to the pump not the pump itself so beware of that. Sorry can't be of more help we had a litany of electrical issues with the Megane apparently Renault are known for it :(
