Hi Sean, yes that was an amazing achievement to go 7:20 in the 3000m. Nobody has got anywhere near that time.

The year after he run 7:58 in the 2 mile at Hechtel, Belgium.

Can't seem to find the race online.

The 3000m time is worth around 7:53 for 2 miles.

Unusually its not on youtube. Maybe no recording exists. It was a lowkey meeting and before everyone had cameras on their phones etc.

    July 14th: 40 minutes

    July 15th: 42 minutes

    July 16th: 30 minute warm up, 2 x 400m in 55 seconds, 1 minute recovery, 2 x 800 in 1:58-1:59, 90 seconds recovery, 2 x 600m in 1:27-1:28, 1 minute recovery. 3 minutes recovery between sets.

Made all the more interesting if you look at the week previous where he ran 13.01 in a 5k followed by two days in hospital with from what I gathered was malaria according to literature of the training logs

Wow he sure did recover quickly from his illness.

I think he would have ran much quicker if he was healthier (looking at the 7:20 3000m time from the previous year).
