Dropped out in September - question, re: grant.

    Hey,

I started first year in a college this year and quickly realised the course wasn't for me. I dropped out before the end of September, and cancelled my grant at that stage too. I hadn't received a payment yet, and I presume my registration fee had been paid as I showed my letter to the college.

I paid €98 as part of the reg. fee, and I was refunded it when I dropped out, so I guessed that if the co.co had paid my €2000 fee, they'd probably have been refunded it too.

I'm going to reapply to college again next year, and was wondering if anyone knows if I'd have to pay the registration fee or not?

    Thanks.

Check with your county council to be honest. You shouldnt have to pay the tuition fees (as you dropped out pretty early) but the registration fees will depend on the council. They have fiddly rules regarding when they will issue a grant were a year has been attempted. Drop them a letter or something and ask, only way you'll get a proper answer tbh.

Yeah I tried that with them, but unfortunately they were very iffy and said it'd depend upon my application next year, but that since I cancelled it so soon it seemed likely! Hopefully anyway.. :)
