Ford Focus, battery hot and flat

For the past two mornings the battery was flat and I topped it up and jump started the car. I decided to change the battery with another from a landrover for now until I can get a replacement on Monday. When I came back today after a 15 mile drive and replaced the battery with the Landrover one it was hot. The battery light does not come on while I am driving. Will the Landrover battery get damaged using it over the weekend? one more query please if I may, what type of oil do I use in the Focus.
    Thanking you all in advance.
    Kind regards.
    Tom.
