Thanks for the heads up, but you're after opening this thread up for the inevitable AV face off battle that these become.

I've gone through lots of av software avg, avast, kaspersky, nod32, avira, bitdefender got rootkits and or viruses with all. Have had panda for a couple of years and find it excellent especially the heuristic scanning which has caught several at the time unknown bits from torrents including tdss.

    Official test results here: http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1%5Breport_no%5D=113154

Normal licence is for up to 3 computers I assumed this would be the same.

Thanks for the link OP but I really don't understand why people need these.

Firefox + No Script + AVG + Zonealarm, all free and more protection than anyone needs.

I'd normally be on the side of the freetard but for €2 per year

I get lots of callouts to infected computers with AVG on them 90% of the time its limewire/edonkey/utorrent don't think AVG free heuristics are up to the job and its repair score has been poor in the past.

Norton is just bloatware imo.I've never paid for antivirus software.Norton came with my laptop, meant to be 12 month license but was asking for money after 3 months plus it was a bloody nuisance so it went bye bye.
All av has their pros and cons, just my choice not to pay for mine, with a bit of care online you should be safe.

Panda has been consistently scoring very highly at av-test.org so if you were in the market for buying AV software, 2 quid a year for a top notch AV package is a pretty good deal.

it's all academic now though as it's sold out.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Microsoft security essentIals.

100% free. Uses very little resources, just works away quietly in the background. One of the highest rated av progs in terms of virus caught, no annoying ads to upgrade.

Seriously no need for anything else. Being using it for the last 2 years on dozens of pcs and not a virus or malware infection between them.
