Idle problem

I dropped my car in for a service yesterday and asked them to look at a problem with the idle while they were doing that. The idle revs were running at 13-1400 and occasionally higher.

When i picked it up this morning they told me that they had 'reset' the car by disconnecting the battery and shorting it (not sure exactly what it was they shorted). I no longer have a problem with the high idle but rather the opposite problem. It now idles at 2-300 rpm and cut out on me twice while stopped at lights. The service manager assured that this shoud sort itself out and to give the car a good run at the weekend.

Can anybody tell me if a good run will sort this (i'm doubtful but have to ask) and if not do you have any ideas what the problem could now be?

Also, any ideas where i can get the code for the radio?

the car is a 2001 volvo s40. The 1.8i mitsubishi GDI engine.
