Netbook memory

hi all, this has been bugging me all day. just looking for a definitely answer on this.
i bought this memory :

and installed on acer aspire one AOD255, no problems and is running.


the original memory stick that was already installed on the netbook says:
1Gb 2RX16PC2-6400S-666-12

doesnt that mean that memory stick is 6400 running at 666Mhz? and arent all Pc2 6400 memory sticks 800Mhz?


however heres the bugger: the specifications of acer website says is 5300 ant 667

i have run various memory tests to see if there`s any issue and all came clean
please help

If the Acer BIOs and hardware has a limit set any memory higher than the limit will work but at that limit, sometimes overclocking can get around this problem but OEM BIOs's don't allow this most of the time, and the hardware is probably not overclock friendly to begin with, . Fwiw I have a NC10, it came with a 1 Gig PC2 6400 module (new 2Gig module in the post :P ) and likewise the NC10 seems to have a memory limit like this also!, I'm not sure what speed its running at (popped it out earlier to see what rated speed it is) but Googling suggests this

The 666 is probably the CAS timings - both the old and new RAM both use 6-6-6 timings. It's working, and looks compatible so don't worry about it.

so i shouldnt bother sending it back to change it?

No looks fine to me, if it worried you could put memtest86 on a USB stick and give it a run through a few times, but it looks grand.

no, the PC2 6400 stick should work fine, just at the netbooks rated speed . I went for that exact PC26400 stick for my Samsung aswell! Ordered only a few hours ago

cpu-z (http://www.cpuid.com) will tell you exactly how your memory is working (clocking etc)

Explained well here looks like the RAMs running at PC2 6400 speeds!
