Ex American Airlines A300 arrived in Shannon on the 4th Nov from Dresden after freighter conversion by EADS. The aircraft rolled out after painting by Eirtech Aviation and departed to Dresden late the afternoon.

Why did AA in this case bother removing their markings as the plane was being sent for a respray anyway? Also, Is it the case that the silver colour on AA aircraft is actually paint and not the underlying metal? That'd seem to be suggested by the green coloured areas.

AFAIK American always paint over the red part of the cheatline when they dispose of an aircraft. The green areas indicate where modifications have been made during the cargo conversion carried out on this aircraft. Some areas are painted on American's aircraft, usually when they are not made of metal in the first place.
