I wasn't able to get on the previous group buys, but with Christmas on the way it would be good to have some primo coffees around.

How would anyone else feel about a group buy? Suggestions...

I'd be up for it as well.

Some places that might be worth ordering from

    http://store.terroircoffee.com/coffees/
    http://www.coffeecollectiveshop.dk/shop/ristet-kaffe-3c1.html
    http://www.49thparallelroasters.com/pages/coffee

And a big (but old) list of roasters http://www.home-barista.com/coffees/list-of-our-favorite-roasters-t12125.html if anyone else has anywhere else to suggest.

    Count me in!

If anyone's interested, I just got a bag of Sidama from Pronto/Ceremony Coffee from the states and it's rather tasty, if quite different from your usual Sidama. I know someone who knows someone in there, so if you guys liked anything on the menu - http://store.ceremonycoffee.com/coffees/ - We could try organise something.

Alternatively, good ol' Tim Wendelboe is always a great option. As is Madcap.

We technically know two people who know people in Pronto don't we?

Was so hoping that Kochere was still on their menu, although the Sidama does sound great from all reports

    Ceremony are game :)

We'd want to get our order in soonish if we're going for it though. I only have a prepaid card for online purchases, so don't know if that'll work best for buying or what would suit best. Any and all suggestions welcome.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 109 ✭✭Dahtac

    Sweet. I'm in anyway.

Unfortunately over full credit card prevents me from aiding in the purchasing

Not sure if this would work, but it might be worth asking your contact...

Is it possible, once an order has been finalised, that we each contact the roaster individually and pay by credit card/paypal, etc until the full balance of the total order is paid. Then they would roast and ship. That way someone isn't stuck with a huge credit card bill.

Or - and forgive me if this is out of line - could we individually top up your prepaid card, Fajitas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭donnacha

I'm happy to pay in advance by cash or paypal if that helps.

Can I join in the group buy Thanks

I'll find out about both options - Whichever is easiest and suits everyone, we'll go with. Considering we've a pretty direct link with their head roaster, the first option would be really handy as long as everyone paid on time. Let me see what I can do tomorrow evening.

I'm a bit of a novice here - anyone have any recommendations? I have a gaggia classic that I can use, just want to experiment with some different types of coffee!

As above i too am novice,

I'm just going on the descriptions really, no idea what any of these coffees taste like.

1 x CERRADO GOLD (Sounds so good I'm tempted to just get 3 of these, but sure may as well go for a bit of variety.)
    1 x EL SOCORRO
    1 x NORTE CENFROCAFE

    Totals $39.00

Do we get a bulk discount or what's the story?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭Regular Latte

    Thanks, Fajitas. I'll go for:

    1 x Peru Norte Cenforcafe
    1 x Kenya Kiambu Manira
    1 x Holiday Blend

    All 12oz roasted WB

    Thanks!

I don't know. Worst case scenario, we'll be able save on shipping as per what it'd cost to order individually. If they want to give us something off when we've the numbers behind what we want, then that'd be awesome, but I'm not counting on anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 87 ✭✭jdburkedjburke

    Fajitas I will go for

    1 x Volcan Bambito $13.00
    1 x Norte Cenfrocafe $14.00

Bah, I'm out of this. Scratch the order, short on cash before Christmas. I have enough coffee at home anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    No probs Keith.

Guys, if we could try get all orders in by about Wednesday, it'd be great, I'm not sure how long postage will take from the 'States so the sooner the better.

Also, I think there's might be 8% VAT lumped on to this. But we'll figure that out nearer to the time.

    Thanks guys!

    Morning guys, another update.

The guys at Ceremony are being really helpful. Shipping is going to cost a total of $160, so if we get 10 people in, it'll be $16 each, if we get 16 people in, $10 dollars each. We're at 12 at the moment, and with the current exchange rate, that's not too shabby at all in my opinion.

So I'm hoping to get the coffee shipped to 3FE on Grand Canal Street. They're open 7 days a week now, so hopefully that'll suit everyone in Dublin. For those outside the pale, we might be able work something else out. If you guys could speak up, that would be great. I've also been talking to someone that might be able to help us arrange a tasting, if people were interested in sharing their coffee. More on that later though.

I've also arranged that we should all be able pay separately. This is really handy, because noone has to float the order, noone risks being out of pocket, etc. From what I can tell, Ceremony will set up a special shipping order, which we select along with our purchases. Simples.

So, any other questions guys? I'm going to send in a confirmation of how many of us are ordering by Thursday morning, and they'll get the payment options set up. Is that ok?

TBH I'd probably have to pull out so, 3x340g bags + shipping would work out at approx €41 and probably wait for a few weeks to get it, and that's not including any possible import fees.

Where as for the same price I could walk down to 3FE on my lunch break today and buy 5x250g bags.

Group buys always tend to be more expensive than your usual coffee. Part of it is just the fun of trying a different roaster which you otherwise wouldn't try and then maybe getting together for a taster - coffee community and all that. Still, I understand what you're saying...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

No worries at all MagicMarker, I completely understand that this can be a bit pricy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,089 ✭✭✭✭LizT

I probably won't place an order, still have most of my Christmas presents to buy and don't think I can stretch the budget this year.

    Could I please get:

    VOLCAN BAMBITO - $13.00
    SIDAMO WATA DARA $15.00
    AA KARATINA KAMUNYAKA - $19.25
    AA KIAMBU MANIRA - $17.00
    YIRGACHEFFE KOCHERE - $14.00

I'll probably be seeking postage onward out to the sticks but I'll confirm that when the dates or set and I know if I'm available to hook up with ye.

Thanks sincerely for taking the lead with this Fajitas!

I'll sort out getting it to you, or if anyplace between Dublin, Limerick, Kilkenny and Waterford suits, let me know.
