Only heard about this today! :P
This is an incredible story. Meet Conor Cunningham, a Republic of Ireland fan who travelled to Tallinn for the first leg of the Euro 2012 play-off with Estonia last Friday night.
The part-time fitness instructor did not have a ticket for the match and refused to pay the ridiculous prices being quoted by Estonian touts.
Cunningham went to the stadium before the match and spotted an open doorway: ”It was a corridor and a dead end. But I did see a bag of footballs and, when I picked them up, spotted an Estonian tracksuit underneath them.”
He then proceeded to put the tracksuit on over his jeans and Ireland shirt!

What I love is that here in Ireland, he's a hero and its all positive headlines. If he had done it in England, the papers would have been shocked and disgusted by the breech in security and calling for heads to roll :P

Is he not a criminal, robbed a tracksuit, gained access to the stadium without paying, he's not a hero, he's a skank. Why is he a hero?

The only thing that could possibly make it more epic is if he was a poster on here.:pac:

    Love sh*t like this...

Like the Dublin fan who got on the pitch and was celebrating with the players after the All-Ireland final or the chap who got in the Man United team photo against Bayern years ago!

He is but I think the fact he travelled all the way over there and that makes him a bit more than a common criminal, he had already made a lot of sacrifices to get to the match in taking over 24 hours to get there and obviously the cost of the trip. He didn't plan it either.

    haha a criminal and skank?
Some people need to lighten up and enjoy the story for what it is. He is hardly a threat to society with malicious intentions. I would love to have a story like this, i'd be telling it til the day i die. Oh but he's a criminal and didnt pay to get into the stadium...so what! ask any paying irish supporter there if this guy should be thrown in jail and theyll laugh at you, dont begrudge the guy for the pair he has!

This thread is somewhat the equivalent of the idiotic cheer that comes out when some idiot runs onto the pitch during a game.

The guy's a hero. Simple as that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

The guy's a thief, simples. He took a tracksuit that didn't belong to him - that's theft and he went into the stadium without paying - trespass, and the rest.

If UEFA take action against the FAI, we'll see how big a hero he is.

If UEFA take action against the FAI

Why would UEFA be taking action against the FAI Zebra ?

They may, if they wish, take action against the FAI as one of their supporters has obviously entered parts of the stadium he is not meant to be. The FAI do likewise with clubs here.

The fact that people on here think he's some sort of character  won't bother them.

What saddens me most about Ireland is that 10 years ago there would not be ONE idiot saying he's a thief/scumbag etc. we've all watched too much sky news and everything becomes an outrage. Lad is a legend.

Some amount of Buzz Killingtons in this thread.

    This man is a Legend.

He spotted an opportunity and had the BALLS :D to take it.

Would you have done it Buzz Killington? No, you'd have paid your hefty ticket, bought the 2.5 kids some tea for a fiver and taken your seat, gone home and complained to the wife about the delay on the Dart and collapse of a heart attack 40 years after eeking out a dull miserable existence.

The man has heart and guts and the wit to stay on the pitch. The man wanted to watch his team and took an opportunity that came his way, it was cheeky, it was opportunistic but we like sneaky ****ers- hell we elected Bertie three times- you know why- he was a sneaky ****er.

FAI Prices for tickets- that's 55,000 crimes. Robbing a sponsored tracksuit, provided for free and knitted by chinese children's hands- that's a crime.

You keyboard warriors tut tuting into your cornflakes. Don't admonish what you would never have the guts to do in ten lifetimes

    Ya tits.

That's the same guy who done the annoying Pacman video (it was posted on the Cool Videos/Links forum) where he ran around shops and into a snooker hall and stuff. He does another Mario Kart one which is good too but a bit dangerous.

On topic, that Cunningham chap is a legend!! :D:D:D

Eh... no.... watch the videos, its clearly in Estonia. Just by looking at the thumbnails of the videos, you see its in Estonia since St Ledger and keane are wearing the white away kit. He also was talking about the crazy price of tickets by the touts outside the ground in Estonia earlier on Today FM. Not sure where you heard it was in the aviva from... but your wrong anyway.

He's got some balls. Some Estonian balls. :pac:

All he's guilty of Bill is spooferism, chancerism, peacocking. Don't see why he warrants criticism. Think of the economy. There are others in this country that have blagged their way into far more profitable situations at our expense.
