Sepp Blatter : Finally time to go?

An overview of the recent career of Sepp Blatter reads less like a tribute to a modern respected sporting statesman, and more like a particularly sharp episode of Curb Your enthusiasm:

In 2004 he suggested that Women's football would be more interesting if they wore hot pants to enhance the 'feminine ethic' - He stayed in a job

In 2010 he opined publicly that Gay football fans should "stop acting gay" during the World cup in Qatar to avoid causing a scene - He stayed.

Later that year, he offered his 2 cents on the Homosexuality in football debate by saying he understood why gay players wouldn't come out in men's football, because it was "too macho". Perhaps, he said, it would be good if they took a leaf out of women's football's book, because the ladies game is rife with lesbianism, and that's grand (but would probably be better if they wore Hooters gear, of course). His job remained unthreatened.

This was before he offered an unequivocal certificate of cleanliness to fifa's financial activities, saying publicly to anyone who'd listen that "There are no rotten eggs. There is no systematic corruption in Fifa. That is nonsense. We are financially clean and clear".
We know how well that one is working out for them, as do Jack Warner and Mohammed Bin Hammam.
Blatter was either lying when he made the above statement, or he had absolutely no idea what was going on in his own organisation. Both very good reasons to either fire or indict him, yet he remained in his job.

All the above lunacy aside; can he really last through the storm caused yesterday by his repeated statement that a black man who is called a "dumb f*cking n*gger" on the pitch should man up and accept that such comments are simply part of the game?

Should this slighted player do as Mr Blatter suggests and really just "accept a handshake" if the perpetrator of such racial abuse is caught and forced to apologise, because Mr Blatter believes that racism doesn't exist in today's game?

No one really believes this, do they?

I'd reckon it's about as believable as Fifa's immediate retraction and clarification which said basically, that Mr Blatter is NOT simply a brain damaged misogynist facist with no concept of what century he's living in, and he was just misinterpreted. By Everyone who heard him speak. Every time he said it.

They suggest that In reality, after football matches where racist incidents occur, Mr B's KlanBuster 2000 racial insult detector machine signals its alarm in his Mountain mansion, and then he slides down the Blat pole, puts on a lycra suit with a big red "R" on the chest, and flies from the Blatcave directly to the home of wrongdoers in the guise of Racial Harmony man, wherupon he teaches them a sound lesson on respect, acceptance and integration by tying them to a chair and making them watch "Cry Freedom" on Blu ray, and then that episode of Barney where all the children of different races hold hands and sing the "I love you" song.

I personally (as tragic as it sounds) believe that he's actually suffering from a degenerative mental disease that stops him realising that the vast majority of stuff that he says is complete and utter bullsh*t with no connection to reality.

The alternative thory is that this opinion is coming from someone who is mentally sound, and this person who has sickeningly archaic opinions on gender, sexual orientation and race is in a position of great power.
Now, more than ever, that is truly frightening.

One way or the other, it continues to be embarrassing for FIFA to have this man at the helm. Regime change would be a blessing.

he understood why gay players wouldn't come out in men's football, because it was "too macho".

Too macho he claims? Christ, there ain't nothing macho about football.

Anyway, we're long overdue his departure.

These made me LOL just because they are such an old-man thing to say. Still, he shouldn't have even thought about saying them.

It was time for him to go long ago, how he justifies to himself the job that he does, I do not know.

I see the english media bandwagon is off and running again....
Leading intellectuals such as David Cameron and more importantly Rio ferdinand have had their say already......

Nothing new with Blatter making waves...
But englands failure to stage a major tournament and their lack of support in world football makes this an ideal opportunity to put the knife into blatter and shake things up for their own benefit....

Playing the racism card against blatter suits all parties in england right now..

sepp is almost mr burns like in how out of touch he is , in a weird kind of way , it would be a shame to see dinasaurs like him die out , we need men like him to keep the feminists and pc police ( who dictate everything behind the scenes ) on thier toes hopping

I think after Blatter, FIFA needs to change to having a maximum term in office (before Blatter would've been better).
