Alright lads. So from my research on here it seems that you can't transfer recordings to a PC using the non PVR version of this box. Does the same apply for the PVR version (Humax HDR-Fox T2)? Also, I'm currently using a Triax TR112 for Saorview. This is in the sitting room. I have a Ferguson Ariva upstairs and use the RF out on the back of the Triax to pipe the terrestrial up to the Ferguson. Is there an RF out on the back of the Humax which will allow me to do the same thing? I want to replace the Triax with the Humax.

    Hi,
Yes this Humax has RF loop through. Can also link to other media devices:
    Multimedia and Home Networking

The HDR-FOX T2 offers exciting multimedia and home networking capabilities, making it the hub of any home. Play media content including photos, videos and MP3s directly onto your TV using a memory device in the USB port, or connect it to PCs or laptops around the home through your home router, using the Ethernet port. Your friends and family will be able to see your holiday moments without having to crowd around your digital camera, so there’s no chance the family can avoid that slideshow!
Share your recorded programmes from the HDR-FOX T2 with other compatible devices around the home via your home network.
Enjoy......I have a Humax Foxsat Recorder and couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Thanx Willby. I have a Foxsat meself. Great piece of kit. That's what's prompting me to get one of these for Saorview. You certainly answered the RF question but I'm still unsure if the transferring of files for editing/watching on a PC will work. Will there be a problem with this box seeing all Saorview programs as HD and encrypting them like on the non PVR version?

Same as above, I have the Freesat Version and will be getting the Humax HDR-Fox T2 for the living room.

I was hoping to get it for Christmas, but I am holding out until word comes about about Series Link.

I have the HD-Fox T2 in a bedroom, connected to a 1TB harddrive and it's perfect. The HDR would complete the living room.

No in much rush though, our TV works fine on Saorview in the living room and the bedroom box does the recording, I can just plug out the hard drive and put it into the FoxSat HDR in the living room to view recordings.

Can you transfer recordings from the HD-T2 to your PC or are all files encrypted? By the way Mr. Kleek...it was your PMs that made me go out and buy the Foxsat ;)

At first when I connected the harddrive from the HD T2 to the laptop, it would even read the hard drive, the Humax formats it into some Linux EXT3 code which windows didn't even read. I sorted that problem out by installing a driver.

Now, when when I plug my hard drive that's connected to the HD T2, all my recording are visible on the laptop, but they cannot be played, I used VLC, Media Player and Nero Media Hub an no Luck. The programs are in MPEG-2 TS Video format. Each program has 3 other file types after it which windows doesn't recognise.

Doesn't bother me, as all I do is unplug the Hard Drive (Its a small one that is powered off the USB cable) from the HD T2 in the bed room and plug it into the front of the Foxsat in the living room and my RTE recordings play fine on my big screen.

Would have been nice to edit and cut out commerical breaks of programs that I want to keep and burn onto DVD for archiving!

I'm sure if I spent enough time at it, I could get it working. Their is a few threads on AV forums that are dedicated to this query, I must have a look, you've given me a new project to work on!!

If you get the HD T2 to work with regards playing/editing files on a PC then let me know. I'd buy that box instead and save meself nearly 200 quid :D

This topic came up in a previous thread on the Fox HD T2.

If you transfer SD files from the HDR to a USB key, it should decrpyt the files. Whether it treats all MPEG4 files as HD rather than SD is a potential problem. However, a utility exists which also allows you to transfer HD files. A customised firmware also exists which might be worth investigating.

See this thread for more info and links:

Hi I want to purchase the HDR-FoxT2 with 1tb twin tuner pvr and Im in co Dublin and want to check that it receives Freesat and Saorview channels, if so what connections does it need? I was on to UPC today as I have one box with them and they advised that RTE1, N2, TG4 and TV3 will still come through their analogue cables after 24th October but that the other regular channels will be stopped (UTV up to MTV). So I probably just need a freesat recorder with series link which I believe this does. Also is there a way to link it to another tv in the house? Thanks

The HDR-FoxT2 is a Freeview box - it will only pick up terrestrial television not satellite if that's what you are looking for.
