The OH wants to go and see the beautiful view of Ireland, particularly sea views etc...

Naturally the first place that comes to mind is the Cliff of Moher but it's a bit*h of a drive from Dublin!

I'm wondering if you guys could recommend anywhere closer to Dublin (preferably east coast) that would do the job.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Carlingford Lough (the Irish side looking north) is very pretty.

TBH, the Wicklow mountains offer some spectacular views of the coastline and out to sea.

Go to Killiney Hill and walk around lovely views of the bay - or Bray Head either.

    Hmmm....

If you are looking for the picture postcard version of Ireland then the west is the place to go....:)

(Apologies to those on the East coast:D)

Unless you have a particular reason to visit the big smoke you would be better off basing your Irish holiday travel in Galway. (Or Cork (It is only 2 Hrs from Dublin Airport by regular bus service)) No doubt that you can have a nice holiday in Dublin, but if you want it to be unforgettable then ....Go West....:)

Head west. Galway, mayo. Westport is a nice town to stop off in. A few nice driving roads around too for when you get sick of the sea views!

Cliff walk in Howth, Hike Bray to Greystones, Carlingford.

I think your shortchanging yourself if you discount the west coast.

    I love this place http://www.thebeachbarsligo.com.
Quintessential Irish pub and B&B experience on the beach.

The cliffs wouldnt be that long of a drive either. Apparently there is a spectacular boat tour under them now too.
