Are you sure it was in Trinity?, considering Trinity doesn't offer a games design course I dunno how likely this is. Perhaps someone from Comp. sci, could help you out.

Just to let you know, it isn't really a game design course... It's more of a games programming course... It's kind of hard to explain...

    I'm doing it atm actually...

If you're looking to do things like gameplay design and level design and actual games design, then there's a course in DIT that might be better.

There's no modules on IET that are like game design or anything... It's more games programming focused. I guess that's the best way I can explain it I dunno.

It's also not really in conjunction with Havok. Back in the day, Steve Collins, the founder of Havok played a big part in the creation of the course, and I think he was the coordinator for a while. He doesn't own/work for Havok anymore and doesn't lecture on the course anymore either. That said, if you're looking to work for someone like Havok, this is probably a good course for that, and I think they tend to take some of the grads from this course...

I love the course. I'm really enjoying it. That said, it is a LOT of work.... I haven't found the assignments and stuff to be particularly difficult as such, just that there's a lot to get done, and not a lot of time to do it... I think that's pretty much everyone's complaint...

Doesn't help that Skyrim came out...

But yeah it's really good. It's also mostly continuously assessed, which is really nice. I did my undergrad in TCD in computer engineering, and our CA only ever accounted for 10-15%. There's a good few of the IET subjects that are 100%CA.

Another thing I'd say, if you're really interested in applying to the course, is that C++ is really important. I mean, you're not made to do anything in any particular language really, but just for the industry and stuff, C++ is important.

OpenGL is also used a lot. Some of the guys this year have never done opengl, and I know the course director and the lecturers have all told them that it's really important...

After you look at the DIT course, you'll see the difference between the two. IET is way more programming focused. Or at least it seems to be. I know that I preferred the fact that IET was very codey and stuff, but it's personal preference. I'd also imagine things like ludology and level design and stuff would be less useful in Ireland. I think those subjects are really interesting and everything, but it's not where the work is done here in the gaming industry. We do a lot of middleware and mobile games

Eeeem, I think that's everything... If you've any more questions or whatever just ask...

I'd definitely recommend the course though. I think everyone else would too. Everyone seems to be enjoying it, even though it's a lot of work...
