    for some it can be as you've indicated but for more others it is many things, primarily a way to stay in touch / follow whats happening with people you know who are also on it. it has a different purpose if you are in business as you are attempting to interact with a customer base.

    I've found it interesting for personal stuff, and very useful for business. That said, I did have an account for about a year which i did nothing with. Couldn't quite get into it. Then it just kinda took off for me. I think you get out of it what you invest into it.

    Can you elaborate on why you think that OP?
    Tbh, it is what it is, a social network, so in that sense it does exactly what it says on the tin.

    Ya i know it is a social network. i just think its very superficial as people dont really have 200+friends and in my experience of if the majority of people i saw on it were using it to post ridiculous things like 'i am at such a place with this person' or' i am bored' etc and really i dont think people actually care very much what other people do on it.. it seems lke a popularity contest to me where u just comment and like things for show. dont see why people dont just chat privately or meet up or skype or email ..maybe im just old haha
