I have some American colleagues over next week and I am looking for a pub to take them to on one evening (either Sunday, Monday or Tuesday) where there would be live trad music. Are there any pubs in the city center that have music on these nights? I had heard that Counihans did before but not sure if they still do????

Spalpin fanach which is directly opposite the old beamish brewery has traditional music regularly. Give them a call and ask about nights it is on.

Alot of the trad night seem to be here and there and none are well advertised online. http://www.corkentertainment.ie/ is handy for events coming up in cork. I found that site recommend on the cork airport website
http://www.corkairport.com/gns/plan-your-trip/things-to-do-cork.aspx Theres some other links there for tourists.

Costigans on washington street has some music on during the week call them on 021 4273350

Here's something you could have a laugh to. Ever think of showing American the old showband type thing there is an event on the 21st in Cork Opera House - Ronan Collins sings Joe Dolan!!!

Sin E on Colberg street does a good show every Tuesday at around 9 I think. It also looks very traditional so your guests should like it.
