Jobseeker's Benefit (JB) V Jobseekers's Allowance (JA)??

From what I know JB is basically 'drawing your stamps' while JA is 'drawing the dole'.
My query is this. I have paid quite a bit of tax this year, but am now out of work. I'm currently on stamps. However, with stamps my tax credits are being used up every week. For example, if your weekly tax credit is €70, this is gone as you're getting your stamp money. Thus, I won't be able to claim any of my tax back at the end of the year.
I've heard/read that JA doesn't affect your tax credits, though you're means tested.
Is this the case, as if so, I would be better off on JA.

    Thanks in advance.

Jobseekers Benefit is a taxable source of income meaning a portion of your tax credits and cut off point is used to cover the tax due. Jobseekers Allowance is a non taxable source of income which does not use any of your credits or cut off. I am unsure if you can ask the DSP to switch you from JB to JA.

For the record you would need to be getting €350 JB a week to use up a weekly tax credit of €70.
