Weekend review thread.

Does anyone have a problem with a weekend review thread, perhaps after all big weekends? I appreciate it will eat into other threads, but some races are maybe not worth an entire thread to themselves.
    Navan.

What next for Mikhael D’Haganeut? Excellent novice hurdler, awful novice chase season, lost to horses on Sunday he would have kicked out of the way in his pomp. He’s in the Royal Bond (I think).

Noble Prince: Couldn’t understand how he was favourite ahead of BZ on Sunday, so had a sly tenner on BZ at 6/5. His two-mile chase season last year was OK, he would have been down the field in the Arkle on all available form lines. How he was going to beat former QM in BZ was beyond me. Where do people see him going after this? Can he trouble the big boys, and at what distance?

Al Ferof adds his name to the ‘former top class hurdler gone novice chasing’ cast. Where do we place him in the pecking order?

Gauvain won the 2m on Sunday. Where to now? Is he short of top class? Woolcombe Folly, for me, looks one of the most overrated horses in recent years after his handicap win last year made him hugely popular for the QM.

Great Endeavour – what now? (I understand some of these may impinge on the ‘Cheltenham’ thread. Ignore if so.)

Anything else notable/worthy of discussion not being covered by some of the big threads?

Personally I thought one of the horses to take out of last weekend was Erricht who finished third in the novice hurdle race won by Steps to Freedom, the race was run at a crawl which did not suit a horse who thrived on the fast pace in last years festival bumper, Steps of Freedom also had racecourse experience and Erricht was guessy at one or two hurdles which im confident enough will be improved on by the experience.

Slight correction Meriweather. MDH wont be in the Royal Bond. Possibly the Hattons Grace on the same day. I dont know where they will go with him. Had a huge amount of talent, and all isnt hopeless with him, but definite watching brief until he comes back to something like he was.

I was impressed with Bog Warrior at the weekend. Think he could be interesting at christmas and may go off at a price.

But I think Lambro was possibly the best Irish novice chaser seen so far this year, with promise of more to come.

Also, a horse that could be one to watch for handicaps later in the season is Spot the Boss.

Finished down the pack in Bog Warriors race after whipped around at the start, was never asked a question.

Will be interesting to see what mark he gets.

    Holy resurrection Batman.

Spot the Boss, first handicap, off 9-11, wins at 12/1.
