So, we changed the car recently to a Corolla Verso and in doing all the important checks, I forgot one of the biggies, does the radio do long-wave for the Radio 4/Radio 5 addicted owners. Which it doesn't. Which has me in the dog house. :( So the other half went into the dealers today to ask what it would cost to replace the fitted radio with a LW capable one.

    €2500.

Two and a half THOUSAND Euros.

    For a radio.

    So where next?

I'm guessing probably not, that its in some way an integrated unit hence the price, but honestly don't know.

Does the radio have aux in? just grab a LW pocket radio and hook it up?

Failing that, you can get mounting brackets and adapters so you can use stock radios, I believe.

    Or a breakers, possibly?

But yeah. Aux in and a LW radio, sould do itquite well. And you could put it in the glove box, out of view.

Radio 4 and 5 are UK stations that can be picked up in Ireland via Long Wave Frequency.

Like Atlantic 252 back in the day.

BBC Radios 4 and 5. LW is the frequency beyond Medium Wave (though in this case I'm using the terms interchangeably)

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/9355639/Trail/searchtext%3ELW+RADIO.htm

    and

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TOYOTA-COROLLA-DOUBLE-ADAPTOR-SURROUND/dp/B003JI8FWK (you may need a different adaptor depending on year)

You may need an adaptor for Toyota -JVC , but it would still come in under €150 with professional install.

There are 2 different verso radios. The 08 models had an in built cd changer and maybe had lw too?

Thanks for that, wouldn't have occurred to me to check amazon...

Check out Halfords if theres one near you. They should have everything and they install too.

I wouldn't trust Halfords to install a wiper blade. No really. Get a professional install done.

    +1

Going to be very hard to get something to look half right.

Pursue the AUX in / LW radio idea if at all possible.

    or just get an iPod.

OP - what year is it? I have a 2011 Verso, and the silver fascia is not too pretty to look at.
