What's Frazier Campbell's problem with Ireland? Heard he was showing support on twitter for Estonia.

Crazy response by someone in Ireland though, who will come under a police investigation after hitting back with racist remark.

Why does he have to have a problem with Ireland. Maybe he's an Estonia fan.

Anyway the twat that racially abused him didn't do anything to raise his opinion of Irish people.

Plenty of neutral people support the underdog.

    Mortifying.

You could never imagine Irish people supporting any team that's happens to be playing a country they dislike.

Surely its some running joke he has with the Irish players at sunderland, I think it should be taken lightly.

Campbell was only joking, he even said later that Ireland would batter them 4 nil, he retweeted the disgusting racist abuse he got, disgraceful comment. David Meyler said on twitter Campbell is eligible to play for Ireland, anyone know anything about this or was it just a joke?

Yeah but the problem is he is dumb enough to think that everybody will take it in that vein when he puts it on twitter or wherever he put it up.

No, the problem is people who think it is ok to hurl racist abuse,

I believe Campbell was joking, he is always having banter with Meyler on twitter, but even if he was cheering for Estonia who should really give a flying fcuk enough to hurl any abuse at him?

Who cares what people take on it tbh? Doesn't warrant the abuse.

Some people are really beyond stupid. It was a joke. He was trying to get a rise out of David Meyler who he's friends with. Campbell is even eligible for us..supposedly

I'm not defending racial abuse. I'm simply saying that his comments are going to get a reaction and he knows it or else he is dumb. If you want to shoot the **** with your buddies why not text them or use some form of media where its not going to be there for everybody to see. People are going to get annoyed by somebody shouting against their country, there are a lot of stupid people out there who won't realise its a joke.

I know you are not defending racial abuse, but you said he was dumb enough to put it up there,

My point is, joke or not, he should not be subjected to racial abuse.

Yeah he was spotted drinking Guinness on St. Patrick's Day so that makes him eligible I think!

If I was English, I'd probably want Ireland to lose as most of the football fans over here seem to want England to lose.

The funny thing is that most of the English actually want us to do well - but we don't return the favour

I guess this is just a dry run for the summer where every infinitesimal action or comment by the Brits will be adjudged to be a mortal wound to the nation's pride.

Wouldn't necessarily say that, outside of the (admittedly vast) Irish communities but most of them certainly wouldn't care much about how we do. I would see it as benign indifference. We love to inflate our standing in the eyes of the world but most English supporters have bigger fish to fry: both with supporting their own team and their own rivals.

Yes I agree totally with you on that but I'm sure there was a lot of abuse that wasn't in anyway racial too.

All this talk of racial abuse of late is crazy. The more it comes out in the media about these things the worse its going to get. Dumb people are attracted to factions where they are accepted despite their stupidity. You are only going to get more and more of this stuff if its constantly being made big news. The best way to tackle it is to have intelligent documentaries made explaining the history of racial abuse not this low level intelligence soccer racial abuse stuff.

Only over here? i would have thought pretty much everywhere, globally speaking :D:D

That would explain how Joe Lapira got a full international cap for us, he got Staunton drunk the night before his brief international career and stan promised he would pick him if he paid for rounds of Guinness at the bar.

Seriously though would Campbell get in the squad on his current form? I haven't seen him play in recent years so i can't say.

And I wouldn't agree with your opinion above tbh. I was in Vilamoura in Portugal in 2007 during the Rugby World Cup and when Scotland played France and won in Paris.

I saw supporters from both Scotland and Ireland, myself included, take abuse from English supporters. One of the most surprising things was that it wasn't just your typical yob-like individuals throwing it around. Vilamoura would attract alot of golf players and I actually thought older men in their 50s or 60 were worse than any other groups.

One group of about 15 in that age group came into one of the Irish bars during the Ireland Georgia rugby game and applauded every mistake by Ireland/positive aspect for Georgia, while making comments about Paddy bastards. I suppose they were just supporting the underdog

Well no actually, our dislike of the British is not replicated world wide, thankfully

Racial abuse is a criminal offence, right? I would love to see the little knacks that launched this attack tracked down and prosecuted.

yeah and they always give us twelve points in the eurovision while we give them a three at best

If he was cheering on Ireland would we automatically be assuming that he has a problem with Estonia? No.
