Road frames and shapes.

    Something I've found myself doing when picking out a road bike is constantly picking out sloped carbon frames. I don't know why ,but they just appeal to me more ,but I actually don't know if there is any difference in them and the standard type carbon/aluminum when cycling ?

    Is there any difference in performance and distance of certain shaped frames ?

    Its sexability. though manufactures will have you believe they have a reason.
    EG Cervelo have clean 'straight' tubes and Spesh/ Pinarello etc have slopy wavy tubes.

    There may or may not be a difference but wouldn't you rather ride a bike that you really really like instead of a bike that you think is just 'nice'.

    Sloping geometry was introduced so that manufacturers would have to produce fewer frame sizes, because the standover height is greater.

    There is also possibly slightly better ride quality from having a longer seatpost, but that may be exaggerated nonsense like most bicycle marketing.

    Some frames are designed to be super stiff so they can cope with the power of someone like Mark Cavendish sprinting on them. Others are designed to flex on bumpy ground so they're comfortable on 200k spins. The differences are achieved by different shaped and different thickness of the tubes.

    Compare this Specialized Tarmac with the Roubaix version of the same frame. The Roubaix has plastic inserts in the seat stays and fork to let it flex more.
    Also look at the different geometry of these Dolans.

    I have my eye on a hercules frame with a green anpost type paint finish on it. It's the only bike thats clicked with me.
    Someone has said to me though that dolan frames can take a while longer to resolve issues with.

    BMC sl01 with ultegra ,nice frame design and light.

    Wilier le roi with campagnolo athena complete set ,nice sturdy looking bike

    Also looking at olmos ,but thats basically the type of frames I've been looking at. The bmc seems to be the best value.

    Any opinions on these frames ?
