I just recently started getting back into exercising, I have been very lazy for a long time and it is now time to make a lifestyle change. Up until about 6 years ago I used to be quite fit and enjoyed swimming, squash and tae kwon do. I am looking for any advice on the best exercise regime to loose weight, tone and build fitness. At the moment the priorities are in that order as I am going on holidays in 4 weeks time.
I went lane swimming 5 nights last week and enjoyed getting back into it but I am not sure if this is the right type of exercise to achieve weight loss and tone? The plan for this week is Bikrim Yoga 6 days a week and swim 6 days a week but I am open to any advice on other activities. I am not a member of any gym (yet) and want to wait until January to join. Swan leisure seems to have a good selection of evening drop in classes like spinning, pump and tone etc and drop in prices for the gym too, would I be better doing some classes and working out in the gym to achieve more obvious results? Any advice you have to offer is much appreciated. Thanks

Seems to me you already have your answer - there are sports you enjoy, you're more likely to stick to what you enjoy and work hard at it, they seem a good mix of qualities, so I'd look at taking them up again if I was you. The Bikram seems a good addition, but be careful that jumping from 0 to 12 workouts a week doesn't leave you knackered and/or injured and/or too fed up with it to stick at it.

I don't know anything about Swan Leisure, but I'd be wary of joining any gym in January - usually they're stupid busy with NY resolutions that last a month. Also, if you want to do anything and be a success at it, start now, not some arbitrary point in the calendar.
