Im new to android and was just downloading need for speed hot pursuit.
At the point of install it asks:
    Allow this application to:

    network communication
    full network access

    Phone calls
    read phone state and identity

    services that cost you money
    send sms messages

    System tools
    change network connectivity
and a few other similar requests.
All are set to a correct tick, if ya get me.

Its the "send sms message" which makes me press cancel rather that install. Is this just a normal app request?

Im using xperia play, this game is preset as a free EA game.

    Thanks in advance :)

It is good practice for a developer to only list the permissions that are necessary. It is entirely possible to request many but never use them.

That said, this means the app does have permission to send texts. I would only request that permission if I intended to use it. You're best off emailing EA to ask about them, and perhaps suggest they list out why the need the permissions in the app description in the market.

Im not getting it from the market, the game appears when i open xperia play games section, there is a list of games to buy and download, this one is marked as free in the list. Its only when i get to install stage i notice the permissions. There is 4 free decent games for Experia play owners, ill check later to see if the rest have the same.
