Shocking scenes at Tyrone League final

The GAA will have to throw the book at these thugs but from the early reports I would imagine the PSNI will also have to get involved. I'm sick and tired of reading about this kind of thing....these violent morons are destroying Gaelic games.

Tyrone GAA chiefs will launch an investigation after Sunday's county football league final was marred by violence on and off the field.
A mass brawl broke out on the field in the closing minutes of the game and violence then erupted in the stands with several people involved.
The match between Dromore and Carrickmore was held up for around 10 minutes before play eventually resumed.
County champions Dromore won 0-11 to 0-6 at Dunmoyle near Ballygawley.
One eyewitness told BBC Sport that "blood was spilled" during the disturbances in the stand.
Carrickmore players Gabriel McCallan and Plunkett McCallan, who are bothers, were sent off following the mass brawl on the pitch.
Tyrone GAA PRO Damien Harvey acknowledged that the scenes "were not pleasant viewing" and confirmed that the county's competitions control committee would investigate the disturbances after receiving the referee's report.
"The county's CCC (competitions control committee) which is a sub-committee independent of the county board will take any necessary action after studying the referee's report," said the Tyrone PRO.
Referees are required to produce their match reports within three days of games.
Despite the scenes, Mr Harvey said that there were no reports of anybody sustaining major injuries.
Tyrone GAA county chairman Ciaran McLaughlin added that the involvement of spectators in the disturbances was a "worrying development".
"When something happens outside the perimeter of the field, and spectators become involved, it is very serious," added the Tyrone chairman.
Earlier this season, a referee was seriously assaulted at a ladies match in Tyrone, as a result of which two men, one of them a member of the Carrickmore management team, received lifetime bans.
Dromore's victory saw them completing a championship and league double in Tyrone football.

This sort of thing seems to be happening every other weekend.

Maybe on the pitch and on the sidelines but when it kicks off in the stands it's a whole different kettle of fish. Tyrone in particular has had more than its fair share of this type of stuff, there's no excuse for it anymore.

Tyrone seems to have a huge problem with this

As a Tyrone man this is extremely disappointing, and embarrassing.
Unfortunately, this is the 2nd time this has happened this year in Tyrone, with one club involved both times.
However, this is not unique to Tyrone. Its happening all over the country and County boards really need to take a stand.

Antrim county board took a stand punishing the Rasharkin club recently, and I think other county boards need to make it known that they’re prepared to hand out similar punishments. If by getting involved in a brawl you run the risk of getting banned from the association, or having all your clubs adult teams, in all codes, excluded from all competitions then I think this would deter many people from getting involved in such situations.

In these situations when a spectator gets involved, it often turns out that they weren’t a ‘club member’, even if they’re dressed head to toe in club gear. There needs to some form of punishment for the club involved if the person isn’t identified.

It gets worse. Someone had a part of his ear bitten off. Sick. At least the police are involved now.

452-week bans for Tyrone brawl clubs

    25 November 2011

The Tyrone Competitions Control Committee has come down hard on Dromore and Carrickmore after violent scenes marred last Sunday week's ACL Division 1 final.

Suspensions totalling 452 weeks and hefty fines have been proposed for both clubs. The exact details of the bans and fines haven't been made public yet, but the details have been furnished to both club secretaries.

A statement from the Tyrone county board today read: "After a very thorough investigation involving the full co-operation of both the Carrickmore and Dromore clubs, the Tyrone CCC have issued proposed sanctions to both of the clubs arising out of the incident in this year's O'Neill's Division 1 ACL Final. The proposed bans total some 452 weeks. The individuals concerned from both clubs will be informed by their club secretary.

"In addition both clubs received the maximum fine under the Tyrone Bye Law and other playing sanctions have been proposed.

"The sanctions proposed by the Tyrone CCC are amongst the most severe ever issued by Tyrone GAA. We thank both clubs for their support in the investigation and are confident that lessons have and will be learnt from the unacceptable scenes in Dunmoyle."

Four supporters from each club involved in fighting in the stands at Dunmoyle have been banned for a year, while lengthy suspensions were also handed down to three Carrickmore players.

Each club has also been fined £300 each and will have to play their next two fixtures against each other at neutral venues, while both clubs have also been banned from taking part in the league play-offs next season.

The 452 weeks which they go on about seems ridiculous to me. it means three players got 12 week bans each, which is minimal for what went on. those supporters will still be at games. and a £300 fine is not exactly huge which would make the clubs react. and being suspended from league playoffs, ie they can still play in the league, just not a semi final/final.

to me, there is absolutley nothing harsh about those diciplinary actions at all. I'd say it is very lenient to be honest.
