TV Licence fines process

I stupidly forgot to buy a tv licence for my new residence. I got two reminders in the post over the past 6 months but kept putting it off.

Now just recently a Garda has been trying to contact "the occupant" of my house. Am I right in putting one and one together and thinking this might be to do with the lack of TV licence. Do the gardai have anything to do with the fines process.

I bought a tv licence in the past two days anyway as I should have had one.

    Any help ???

Were the reminders addressed to you personally?

If it was in connection the TV licence they would be looking for you personally.

I think the tv thing would more likely go two letters than a threat of legal action , ltter from a solicitor etc wouldnt think wasting garda time would be part of it
