Dealer importing car from the UK

I'm considering buying a secondhand car from a dealer (Audio A4, 3 years old), and this car came from the UK. The dealer is in the process of re-registering it, it still has UK plates right now.

Just wondering if there's anything I should look out for in this specific situation? I know there's a long thread on importing cars from the UK, but in this case it's the dealer that's importing it.

So far everything looks fairly kosher. I've taken a look in bright daylight, taken it for a good test drive, and it seems fine. There's a cartell report, and service history documents from the UK. Timing belt and pump have been done. I was curious what the cartell report could say (given the car is from the UK) but it seems they work with a UK partner so they can check its UK history. I want to go back and re-check the report though, I only glanced at it. It looked OK anyway.

And if I want to get it checked out by a mechanic, where would be the best place to go?

There are few post 08 diesel audis to be had so they are being imported by the dealers. I looked at one earlier in the year and it had the plates in the boot. A search on the web showed it had been sold on an auction site for £17k. Dealer wanted €35k.

I had considered importing myself considering the VRT.

First of all I'd do your own motorcheck report, don't take the supplied one as gosbel. Also get the service history and ring the garages that serviced the car to make sure the mileage and service stamps actually match up. It's too easy these days to buy a fake service history book

Audi A4's at main dealers with low mileage in the UK with an approved warranty from about £14k. Or £12k from non Audi dealers
    Vrt is probably €3-4k
    So registered at touching €18k

Well if thats the case the OP would find a irish car for similar money if not less maybe. OP says the belt has been done which would indicate the car has almost 150k kms, maybe I am wrong on that..

Unless it is one of the last B7 models.

My cousin bought a low mileage 2008 B8 143bhp S Line in from the North. Cost about €16k incl VRT, private sale though.

Cost is around 20k, mileage around 50k miles. But it's very high spec, one you'd almost never find in Ireland.

Now that I think about it, it's a bit strange that they say the timing belt is done. Does it need to be replaced before 50k miles?
