I have my Gmail set up like this. It's great. Automatically syncs all your contacts and calendars too so you'll never loose anything.

There's an official GMail app in the Appstore, I think it's currently pulled due to errors, but it's free, and supports push. It's been a long time coming.

The only thing I've noticed with Exchange is that it only shows the last few weeks worth of mail.

But I find it great. It pushes email instantly. I wish I could get push to work this well on my Mac.

Just turn contact syncing off when setting up the exchange account.

Since I upgraded to ios5 I've found the push email slower than it was on ios4 using my ipad2.
Anybody else have the same issue?
