    Hey guys,

Have an optiplex 745 which is low enough spec and so perfect for me to use as a media PC amongst other things at home.

Just want to know if anybody has any tips for replacing the HDD - will it take a 2TB Hard drive.

I'm 99% sure it will as it's just adding memory but want to make sure before I purchase a Hard drive online.

Speaking of which - any recommendations as to where to purchase one?

Was thinking of komplett or dabs

    Thanks in advance btw :)

How urgent is it? Can you wait 6-12 months for hard drive prices to go down? :P

At the moment you are looking at €150-€200 for a 2TB drive, because the floods in Thailand took out most of the worlds hard drive factories.

I could wait but at the same time few extra quid wouldn't bother me tbh

My issue is this: I have the optiplex, an inspiron 545 and a 1tb Iomega Media Player.

The inspiron is a bit big and the HDD on it is full, the media player is good but I've basically been using it as additional storage for the inspiron seeing as the software on it is a crock of shíte - terrible user functionality.

So I'm thinking of selling these and using the optiplex with additional storage as the media player.

I've been in a predicament as to how to sort it all out but think this is the best solution.

Selling the Inspiron alone will pay for the hard drive and give me some extra funds for other little projects I have lined up.
