hi. I am moving rooms from upstairs, room next to the Ariel, to downstairs I will have to add to the cable of the ariel to extend it to have it fit down stairs.
I was thinking of using an f type connector using male and female connectors and attach it to the cable being removed from the satellite dish.
I will not need a second cable from the dish. That will not be required. ye swapping rooms with my brother that has sky installed in his room , I still have both cables from from my old sky box but just one cable used.so he can move his sky box upstairs safely.

Is there another way that I can do this without to much effort. Am I on the right track?

What kind of aerial are you using & how/where is it fitted?

As to what aerial I am using I am not sure.It is fitted to the side of the house outside the upstairs room that I am in . It would just be a matter of joining two cables to become one. I don't have a problem with reception or anything like that. Not yet anyway.

    If this answers the question.

    Thanks

Joining the aerial to the second (spare) cable with m/f f-connectors should be fine, be sure to use Self Amalgamating Tape if making the join outside, not pvc tape, to waterproof the join.

Is the aerial only feeding a single receiver? More receivers may require a distribution amp.

If you require the second cable for satellite again you can combine and split the two feeds down the single cable with the correct combiner/splitter.
