Back To Education Allowance Backdate?

    Hi everyone,

I applied for BTEA in the first week of September and was approved last Thursday.

I am wondering will I be backdated for not receiving the allowance until now - I was on jobseekers up until then, receiving 100 euro/week and as such, would I be entitled to the difference between that and the full rate for waiting this long?

I know that JS and Rent allowance are backdated depending on the wait, so will the BTEA be backdated also?

I've been scrimping for the last three months because of the long delay so I could really do with the money for the weeks I missed out. Anybody know?

Assuming your course started after you applied for BTEA, now that you have been approved it should be backdated to the start date of your course. Also, you may be eligible to receive the Euro 500 Cost of Education Allowance.

    Hey,

Thank for the reply. I actually applied on the first of September.

The woman in my local post office told me that the 500 euro grant should be there this week, with a backdated sum due next week - to make up for the difference between Job Seekers and what I should have been receiving from the BTEA.
