Scam Alert - Text Message from o2

Mods, I've put this here because that way more people will be informed of it.

I have just received a text message purporting to be from O2 mobile. Now, that mightn't seem strange but I'm not with this network.

The message is from the number 086-83***6 and contains a very dodgy looking link. The full contents are:
Upgrade your O2 to make unlimited free calls to any network, click on this link www.(not putting in full link just in case someone clicks it).biz.nf/o2-online.htm or copy and paste into your browser.

Just a heads up - some people might think it's actually from O2 and click the link, which I'm sure will lead to a few viruses.

I got a message from them the other day warning of scams going on.

Same with their website, warning you never to give out details as they will never ask for them.

Not nearly as crafty a scam as the Wallet Inspector.

That's a scam?? Ah balls...he told me he'd post it back after it had been through a thorough inspection at the Department of Wallet Inspection:(

If it was a guy then sorry you've lost the money.

The real Wallet Inspector is a woman and I'm pretty sure I'm married to her.

I got this message today. I'm on Vodafone (for now) so I was immediately wary that they were asking me to upgrade my o2 account.

I checked the link on my PC and its a site made to look like the o2 site, but nothing works on it. Links don't work, some buttons don't work.

Visual wise I would say it is enough to fool some people into inputting their details if you were already on o2, but the address is dodgy as **** .biz

I don't like the growing awareness of the public to scams, exacerbated by helpful threads like this.

I can just tell the days of my Mobile Breast Lump Check Clinic are numbered. :(

In short - don't trust any text messages you have not signed up for.
When in doubt use an official number and ring the company back
