I recently got the wife an extra oven for the kitchen its an under counter fitted oven I need to build a cabinet for it to fit in. Is there any rules i.e type of timber/ thickness etc that I need to follow or can i simply build a chipboard box to house the oven in?

just follow the clearance and ventilation requirements as set out in the installation notes: there will need to be a gap between it and the underside of work-top to allow hot air out and ditto at bottom/back of carcass to let air in.

    Happy cooking:)

A basic 600mm wide unit is whats used for a standard oven.
