Irish Flight Schools

Hi, need some advice. I'm just back from Florida attempting to get my FAA PPL however due to the weather and a lack of instructors I didn't get to take my checkride and in fairness I could prob do with another coulpe of hours instruction. I have 41 hours done with about 8 of these solo.
I plan now to finish my PPL here in Ireland under JAA part-time at the weekends. Hopefully i'll only need a few more hours.
Can anyone recommend where I should go. Im living in Dublin so somewhere local enough. Ive been looking at Skytrace as I know they fly 152s which is what I was flying in the US.
    Any advice or tips welcome.

    Thanks

Unless something has changed Skytrace don't use 152s. Diesel powered Robins in fact.

You're probably thinking of the NFC which does use 152s. Probably it's better to stick with the Cessnas at this point. Visit them and tell them your story, book a lesson and see how it goes.

Whatever you do, do it as soon as possible. The longer you leave it the more hours you'll need to get current again and the more expensive it gets. Try and keep up the momentum.

yes you are correct, NFC for the 152s. So you think they're ok. I was told by a pilot friend that I might be better off heading back to Florida to finish as the Irish schools will milk me for as many hours as they can.

Schools won't put people forward for flight tests unless the Instructor thinks they're ready. No Instructor I know would try and 'milk' a student. Maybe people who say that have an inflated view of their own readiness to progress?

But for any student who feels they're not making progress with an an Instructor has the right to change to another one. I've done it in the past.

Pick one of schools and go for a flight. Ask the Instructor to give you an assessment of skills and estimate the hours required.

Yes I've used the NFC in the past and did well with them. I don't work for them as someone accused me once.

Just heard back from NFC, looks like I'll be heading back to Florida to finish up. Apparently I'd only be able to carry over 10 of my hours from FAA and the hourly rate for a 152 is over twice as much as I will pay over there, plus landing and touch and go rates. What a joke!
Not NFCs fault but not a viable option for me either.

Aha that's a problem alright. JAA rules and all that. That's unfortunate.

There are FAA instructors in Europe aswell you know!!
Quick search on the old Google!
What I'm saying is, you can do your FAA training in europe.

Another issue you would have doing a JAA approved PPL is that you would have to pass the JAA PPL theory exams before being issued the licence (I am assuming of course that it was an FAA PPL you have been training Stateside for as mentioned in your original post).
