Hayneworth Fooked out of New England

Haynesworth has been released by Pats for having a very heated verbal altercation with our D-line coach Pepper Johnson.

    Source to follow:

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/08/patriots-cut-albert-haynesworth/
The Albert Haynesworth era in New England has come to an end.

In a surprising roster move today, the Patriots have decided to cut Haynesworth, the defensive tackle they acquired in August in a trade with the Washington Redskins.

Ian R. Rapoport of the Boston Herald, who first reported the move, notes that the decision to jettison Haynesworth comes two days after a sideline confrontation with defensive line coach Pepper Johnson.

The sudden end for Haynesworth is reminiscent of the Patriots’ decision last year to trade Randy Moss. The difference, of course, is that Moss had great success in New England before wearing out his welcome. Haynesworth has been nothing but a disappointment for the Patriots.

Now we’ll see whether any other team wants Haynesworth, or if the entire NFL comes to the conclusion that Mike Shanahan and Bill Belichick have both come to: That Haynesworth is more trouble than he’s worth.

In before posters linking to other posters thoughts that Haynesworth was a "changed man" and going to tear it up for NE.

If I had 30 million in my bank account I doubt id give a f*ck about trying to seriously injure myself on a daily basis :P

Could be worse you could of got another FA who of done sweet feck all for you since he started...oh wait :p

Sorry this is just the annual "Belichick is human" rant

Was a lost cause anyways, just because bill picked him up didnt mean it was going to work by any means. If he wasnt such a headcase i'd love to have him at Denver, we need another NT alongside Bunkley to last us the season with Warren on IR

To be honest we lost fook all on him anyway as his main contract was based on playing time. His loss not ours at this point as he did fook all anyway.

And I agree with the BB thing I am not one of his biggest fans. Never was. Im not one to bang on about the in bill we trust nonsense never have. Dude has made many mistake and bad decisions in recent times.

Course he is but no doubt many NE fans will still say he was a God and this was just a once off and all that drivel. I know NE had nothing to loose but my godness having him around probably wasn't the best example to have for young players.

Has there ever been a guy to take such a career nose dive in the NFL? Pleny of rookies who never produced anyway have busted, guys with injuries etc but I can't think of any other player who dominted like Haynesworth did and then just quit when he got paid.

wonder if Ochocinco is wathcing his back now. as bad as haynesworth was, he wasnt as non existant as Ochocinco is.

Haynesworth is no real loss. his contract was based on playing time and there was damn all guaranteed. I just wonder what the impact is within the club tho. good few players beig dropped off the defence and not much coming in.

I think that is the main thing to come from this story. Its a long time since New England were making great personnel decisions and their recent drafting/free agency has been, by and large, a disaster for such a big team. The Superbowl window is closing for the Pats and they need to turn things around ASAP.

It's hard to see them doing it this year and without some serious retooling the next few years don't shape up all that well - the Bills are a young, hungry team and with a good prospect like CJ Spiller backing up their most important player they've got a good basis to work off. The Jets are obviously still there or there abouts and Miami could easily be building a franchise around Andrew Luck (or at worst, Landry Jones) this time next year.

You get the feeling the Patriots are more like the 2011 Colts than the 2009 Patriots in that losing their franchise player for an extended period of time now could spell a big nose-dive for the Patriots. Bellichick is smart enough to get the Patriots back to being serious contenders but he'll have to actually start to spend all those draft picks he's been stock-piling in one way or the other to do it.

In fairness, this was always a low risk signing with the potential of a having a high reward, so I wouldn't be calling out BB over the fact it didn;t work out as hoped.

Jaysus...if Bill couldnt get him to play (Al was even a big Pats fan), how will Morris?

I presumed his career was finished after this (Fat JaMarcus style)...i guess it will last at least for another couple of weeks

Played in something like 30% of snaps. Had 2 hits and 8 hurries I think. No sacks. Kind of says it all, probably unfit, minimal impact, hard to get on with and was hogging a roster spot.

Wasn't exactly thrilled to see the Buccs had claimed him. Granted we had a problem at DT after McCoy went to IR, a problem John McCargo was unlikely to solve, but there has been no evidence at all for some time now that Haynesworth is even 1/8 the player he was in his All-Pro days.

Will be a big challenge for Raheem as well. It's one thing keeping a bunch of young guys in line who all have something to prove; eg LaGarrette Blount, Mike Williams, Aqib Talib etc, but he hasn't had to deal with a player of this mould with character issues yet. The few experienced guys on the Buccs roster are absolutely solid character guys like Ronde.

Would love to see some good come of this; but wouldn't be optimistic about it. He'll certainly have to win the fans over too after his comments about TB and the supporters around the time he picked the 'Skins over them in '09.

That's cause he left the titans. Us Titans get the most of our players! You'll never see someone under-perform while playing for us. Every player gives 200% and are willing to die on the field!!!

In Tennessee our players dont play for money but for the love of the franchise!
