dressing for a pear shape!!

i've a pear shaped body, i am about a size 8-10 up top, and about a 10-12 (closer to 12) lower half! but i have short chubby legs and a long body and im 5ft 6.

i was scowering the internet looking for style tips for pear shaped women. and everywhere says to go for flared/bootcut jeans, wrap around tops etc etc, and all the styles i have seen i just dont like. but i hate bootcut jeans and i especially dont like, and never have liked, wrap around tops, the style just seems too mature for me (im 26, and love the kate moss-y-"sophisticated rock chick" look).

wearing skinny jeans or drainpipe jeans with flip flops, i look fine and am happy and feel comfy with how i look. but for winter, ankle boots, runners, converse etc with skinny jeans make my legs look very short!!
calf boots also cut my legs short, and so do long tops! i am currently excersising to tone up my legs and bum to help me solve my problem, but its only early days!
does anyone else have the same problem? and if so, what do you do to help style your body type??? does anyone know anygood online stores that may have a kind of "sophistiacated rock chick" style clothing without needing the perfect pair of pins for reasonable prices?! thanks in advance!! :)

Are you me? Ha, my body type is exactly the same as you!!

i always wear dark colours on the bottom and light colours on the top. The material on the top is important too. anything too floaty makes me look lumpy or draws attention to that part where my waist starts to come out and become my hips. My waist is 28inches and my hips are 38inchs- a nightmare to dress!!!

Also i find that tight things suit me better because if i wear anything too baggy makes me look bigger.

It's horrible to try to dress a pear shape especially when i wouldn't dream of going out in bare legs or sheer tights. I know no matter what weight i am I will always have these big chunky legs!!!

Some one who is a very definite pear and i kind of think looks good most of the time is Kimberly Walsh from Girls Aloud. in these bikini photos you can really see it: http://skinnyvscurvy.com/body-type-clothes/girls-alouds-kimberley-walsh-bikini.html

I have that unfortunate body shape too 10/12 top /14 bottom dresses are a nightmare cant get a happy medium with them  I wear lots of dark trousers, bootcut dark denim and wear bright tops . I also love to accessorise with bright jewellery, shoes, handbags etc to draw attention away from the curvy region. If i do have a dress it will be a-line, wrap, halter or with straps to balance me out! I try to get darker colours in skirts/dresses on the bottom half
    No clingy dresses for me!

the dark colours for my bottom half work well for me too! glad im not the only one, cos whenever im walkin around town, i just see girls with these lovely long legs and it really depresses me! my best friend has great legs, but the same size on top as me, but only a size smaller on the bottom and same height as me, but she has great style and can wear anything! my legs have no shape at all, and are just like two upside down triangles!!!
@R.D. aka MR.D, kimberly walsh looks fab alright!!! never even realised! fair play to her!! thats made me feel much better today! :)
@miss choc, at least you know what your doing when you style yourself :) you have all the tricks...i dont have a clue! lol. id have my hair and face done in about 10 mins, but finding something to wear takes about an hour!!! it drives my boyfriend insane!:D
