Major Champs in 2012

Looking at the schedule for 2012 and there are 3 major championships
    Mid March - World Indoors
    End June - European Championships
    Start Aug - Olympics

Given the training cycles of elite athletes who will be peaking for the Olympics, what can we expect from the world indoors and euros? I would have thought that those with the Olympic standard will skip the others but anyone without the Olympic standard might be tempted in the hope of a big performance. Are we looking at low key events at the world indoors and euros?

The World Indoors have been on the same year as the Olympics in 2008 and 2004, so I don't think it will be any different next year. They are a good 5 months before the Olympics, and many athletes like to have a good indoor season behind them before starting their outdoor preparations.

The Europeans on the otherhand I'm not so sure. It's very close to the Olympics so I can see many people skipping them. It's an awful shame as the Europeans are a prestigious championships and having them on so close to the Olympics is damaging their importance. It should be just once every 4 years, and when they are on, they are the sole focus of all European athletes.
