    Hi guys,

Don't know the proper conduct in this situation,

My little sister broke up with her boyfriend of 3/4 years last week,

General mudslinging doing the rounds, pretty much staying out of it as it's not my business,

Now i got on well with her ex, wouldn't hang out but would chat now and then, quite friendly without being too friendly kind of way,

So just wondering what is the conduct here, should i cut communications with the chap as he is now considered the enemy by my sister or just leave it be and keep it friendly,

I know the decent reaction would be the latter, but just wondering what the social norm is. :D

    Cheers

It kinda depends on why they broke up.... Did he mis treat her? If so I would prob try and avoid chatting to him.
But if it was her doing... Then I don't see why you should not talk to him because of it.

If ye weren't that great friends anyway then I wouldn't see bumping into him as a huge issue.

Unless he was bad to her I'd say be civil to him. My sis was an awful bitch to her ex but i got on well with him so we kept in touch after they split up. I don't see anything wrong with this

To me it would all depend on what he is saying about your sister, If he is not saying anything other than it did not work out then i would keep in touch.

if he is badmouthing your sister then i would tell him its something you are not happy with and if it continues then you wont be speaking to him either.

thats the thing i don't know exactly the reason for the breakup, my sister can be immature and has a habit of telling lies and changing aspects of what may have happened to make him look like the bad guy,

Now she could be telling the truth but it seems hard to believe,

If it is the truth then i'd have nothing to do with him, but she hasn't a great track record.

She's one of these girls that whenever she's out, she claims 20 guys where hitting on her or looking at her weirdly,

So don't know if i should believe her this time or not,

I have one of those sisters too...

If your sister has a record of lying, then I'd stay civil to him until you get outside evidence he did something wrong.
