Tightening up the ab region.

Like many I want to tighten up and get 'toned' so to speak. I have lost 5 stone in two years and near (relatively speaking) to achieving my goal, possibly 1/2 to 1 stone more. However I am a little concerned about the looseness as I burn the fat. Will the skin tighten up as the fat goes? It has done so so far. Just wondering is the belly region any different? Is there anything extra I can do?

First of all, well done on losing the 5 stone - that's a great achievement.

Have you any stretch marks having already lost the 5 stone already?

    Hi Malman,

Congrats on your weight loss - brilliant result.

My name is Paddy, I was the runner up on the TV show The Biggest Loser this year on Tv3.

I'm just qualified as a personal trainer, from a fitness point of view if its skin itself then you cant really do a huge amount to help tighten the skin ( you can target the muscles beneath the area however to build them and make them stronger)

What you could look at however is products like Bio Oil which claim to help tighten skin and to improve the elasticity of it. A quick google shows mixed results, mostly positive however. The product is predominantly used by pregnant ladies pre & post, and also people after operations. This in addition to things like massage / exfoliation to help stimulate the skin and keep it fresh and healthy etc.

All the best with your continued fitness journey.

    Paddy

At my heaviest I was verging on 18 stone and i am 5' 10". Yeah I have a few faint stretch marks on my hips and stomach but they're not very noticeable. Thanks for the recommendation on the Bio Oil Paddy. I think I will check it out.
