Few months ago I applied to go to a college in America for a semester. I hadnt heard anything, so I assumed I didnt get it. Made plans to go back to college in Ireland. I had made up my mind with it and it was fine. Today, however, I got the email, saying I was accepted.

So now I have a choice to make. A few other things though. My brother has just set a date for his wedding. Its in Ireland, so if I went to America, Id have to fly back to Ireland for a week, and that would be very expensive. Im also currently on coop in Holland. I was just at home for a week, and had great craic. It was great to see everyone again, and leaving for another 6 months, I would see alot of friends for ages.

I know, Im really lucky to get to travel and all, but I have a choice to make, so I'm just wondering what ye would do.

I'm fully expecting loads of abuse, for something I havnt thought of yet, so if you could just let me know at the end of the abuse it would be great.

i don't understand most of your post

    leaving what for 6 months
you would see lots of friends if you did what
what does on coop in holland mean

are you in college now and this is a semester abroad? when is this semester?

So what you're saying is that you loads of happy ending 'difficult' choices to make.

    Meh.

Ya sorry, I could probably have expressed myself better.

Coop is college work experience. Its required in my course to work for a company for a few months, instead of a semester of lectures etc. Iv been away for a few months already in Holland, where I am doing my work experience. So i havnt seen a lot of my classmates in a while. So I could leave and do a semester in America, and leave my college for another 6 months after I finish my work experience, or I could turn down the offer to study abroad, and go back to my Ireland.

And your fifties are too big for your wallet and your diamond shoes are hurting your feet.

Serious answer - always take opportunities like this - they don't come round that often. Jump in.

You're clutching at straws in order to talk yourself out of going.
    Why?

Welcome to adulthood, where you need to make the choices yourself so that you only have yourself to blame.

Having old friends is gay. New friends are where it's at.

New friends are the latest post-recession look.

Personally I choose the States over going back to study in Ireland any day. What a great opportunity that may not present itself again. US Colleges are great and mad places to be (be sure to make time for both but always put the studying first).

Plus your Irish accent will get you laid so many times, you'll wish you'd brought a spare bag of cocks with you.

I know who this is. You should go. If you didn't, you'd regret passing up the opportunity for the rest of your life. Also there were others that wanted to go as well (I had no interest), but you were obviously chosen for a reason. Go off and enjoy yourself, and sure you can always come home early if it doesnt work out. If you want to borrow my notes when you come back they're yours.

I'm in your course BTW. You should be able to guess who I am by my user name.

    First I was afraid
    I was petrified
    Kept thinking I could neverlive
    without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
    thinkinghow you did me wrong
    I grew strong
I learned how to get along
    and soyou're back
    from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
withthat sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
Ishould have made you leave your key
If I had known for just onesecond
you'd be back to bother me
Go on now go walk out thedoor
    just turn around now
    'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't youthe one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
    you think I'd crumble
you thinkI'd lay down and die
    Oh no, not I
    I will survive
as long as i know howto love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've gotall my love to give
    and I'll survive
    I will survive (hey hey)

I went on a semester abroad to Sacramento, California in 06 and it was the best experience of my life. Absolute dive of a city but an hour from San Fran, deadly people, HOT college boys (girls were pretty hot too), ridiculous classes, frat parties, lots of road trips, great weather, total lack of inhibitions...would murder to repeat the experience.

Quit making excuses and GO, you'll regret it otherwise I can assure you.
