Had to laugh at this ... (skip to 55 seconds)

Bieber wins the "best male" at the European Music Awards ... while only about 5ft7 and 7 or 8 stone. And there is WWE Wrestler Sheamus, a legit 6'4 man and 18-20 stone handing him the award :pac:

Who looks more of a man?
Is it me or are the days long gone where guys like Robert Di Niro, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Selleck etc etc where seen as "Manly" and today replaced with someone who makes sure his hair is perfect, tanned and metrosexual? :pac:

I assume it's best male musical act and not best beefcake award..

I know this is a music award ... but this is also in general. Look at the two main actors for Twilight. Hardly manly.

Reads Nuts magazine, grunts instead of talks and like beers, football and tits.

The award is best male artist (yes...lol, etc), not best male at being male.

I think you are confused. Maybe you should look up what the best male artist award is for.

So a puffed up beef-cake choreographed 'fighter' is a legit man?

He'd get his ass handed to him by a half decent MMA fighter 2 thirds his weight.

    Exactly.
And a MMA fighter compared to some hard nut in the Special Forces is a boy.
Comparisons are never ending my friend ;)

A fit MMA fighter will totally take out a special forces guy in the ring.

Special forces might be better at survival over a period of time but if it was 5 x 5min rounds in an octagon then the MMA fighter will take him 9 times out of ten.

What in a fist fight, not likely.

And De Niro is about 5' 7 too.

    Thank you Pomp! :P

    Ok fair enough.
But would the same MMA fighter last too long in a war or survival situation?
Again my point, comparisons can be made to anything Chuck.

And besides this is starting to sound like a 5yo chat that Batman is tougher than Superman :pac:

    Define manly?

“Manliness consists not in bluff, bravado or lordliness. It consists in daring to do the right and facing consequences whether it is in matters social, political or other. It consists in deeds, not in words.”

    Mohandas Gandhi

We now know what kind of men you are into OP.

    Anyhow...
“Manliness consists not in bluff, bravado or lordliness. It consists in daring to do the right and facing consequences whether it is in matters social, political or other. It consists in deeds, not in words.”

    Mohandas Gandhi

Sure, that and a pair of testicle.

You say that but the one that isn't Robert Pattinson would totally kick your ass in a fight and you know it. Isn't he like a martial arts expert or something?

".. and you know it" ...

But just googled it. Taylor Lautner did marital arts training as a kid and accordingly still practices it.
Now its fact he did it. Proof of that. But that dont mean he is some hard ass. For as all we know he might not of gotten into a fight in his life.

If I heard of a regular person with his background ... yeah think twice about starting something. But my point is hollywood likes to blow things out.

    Mohandas Gandhi

This is the same Ghandi who showed supreme levels of what he defined above as manliness when it came to the fate of his sick wife who was suffering from bronchitis, one of her sons wanted her to be treated with penicillin but Ghandi bravely stuck by what he considered right and refused to allow her to be treated by British doctors, instead opting for prayer and holy water. Deprived of medicine she eventually died but Ghandi's morals remained intact.

Six weeks after she died Ghandi showed significant less manliness when it came to his own life, he developed malaria and it didn't take him too long to let British doctors provide him with quinine to cure him.

I think men have been asking this since we lived in caves: looking at the men around them and thinking "Jesus, men were more manly back in the day, look at the state of these lads with their skinny mammoth skin trousers and sabre-tooth tiger eyeliner.

But the reality of it is, I think men in society have always been made up of some men, maybe a majority, who conform to what we recognise as traditional masculine stereotypes, and others perceived as more feminine (dandys in the late 18th and 19th century, sissies and nances in the 1920s and 1930s, long-haired hippies in the 1960s).

But we always have had an imagined idealised past in terms of men being more manly, and also in general (see: "kids today have no respect!").

The manly men are still, probably in the same numbers they've always been.

You know what really annoys me? That this wrestler character had to put an 'h' in his name, just so the yanks would know how to pronounce Seamus.

You know the male race is in trouble when a man who rubs oil on himself and wears nothing but a pair of short shorts that likes to 'wrestles' with similar naked men is considered 'manly'

I'd rather be Beiber to behonest!

    Sean Connery.

Edit: Damnnnn, beaten by Chuck Schtone.

Justin Bieber's girl-fans are more manly than him, and would tear into his enemies like piranhas.

You've got wrestling all wrong. Apparently these guys can get seriously damaged in the ring while they're groping each others sweaty naked bodies.

    Nothing unmanly about that.

Being male does not mean your manly , bieber, david norris and louis walsh are proof of that
