I(a manly man btw) started tearing up(crying my heart out) over reading a thread on boards.
Ive just stopped and thought, do a lot of people cry while on boards.ie? and what threads and what posts?

Can't think of a specific thread, but a few individual posts have - mostly over in the girlie forum (surprise! :p) and the Bereavement forum, but the odd one here too. What springs to mind is the depression threads - some very moving accounts on those.

dunno, random threads around boards in the ladies lounge, gentlemans club etc. none are near as good as my thread was of course

The Worst time in your life thread did draw a few tears. Both sad and inspiring.

only one I remember was the link to the girl being beaten last week, that made me cry so not so much a boards thread but still...its good to weep occasionally.

I can barely hold it together in the Home & Garden forum. I'd fuc*king lose it completely in the Bereavement section.

Can't find it but I think it was on a thread about organ donation. Someone said a kid relative of their's was run over and killed and at the funeral his father stood said that his organs had gone to three different people.

It was put a lot better than this pathetic summary though. :pac:

If there is a thread that i think will be very sad, i just wont read it. There's enough sadness in real life, i use the internet to entertain and make me laugh........that and porn, of course.

A lot of threads when people talk about their loved ones being ill or dying. :(

That pictures that shook the world thread.

Stupid as it sounds some of the history/politics threads make me sad, I see the bickering going on in them and realise that they never truly will be peace.

pictures that shook the world has come close many times. that series of pictures of the child losing his battle with caner on that was horrible

this coming from a man from a family where all the males never cry and bottle up their feelings and end up alcoholics and manic depressives.

It was "Cleared out Kate's Wardrobe", in Bereavment forum.

What a read, if you dont cry reading that, then I dont think youve read it properly!

Not so much a thread, but a specific post - when somebody posted a link to this, "Days With My Father" by Phillip Toledano, my manliness vanished very quickly.

The Photos That Shook the World thread was quite excellent too. Plus a poem someone posted 4 years ago in Creative Writing here entitled, "Back then, I still had you" brought a tear to my eye.

The Photos That Shook The World Thread.

Any thread or pictures that involves children in distress or suffering really.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭LeeHoffmann

well I guess I'm a hard-hearted b1tich then. The internet has never made me cry. I'm weird though - I cry when I'm angry and if somebody stands up for other peoples' human rights. If I see that happen on boards I might shed a tear ;) :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,762 ✭✭✭✭stupidusername

I'm not sure I did cry through any of the Photos that Shook the World thread.

a couple in the Bereavement thread or the Things you want to say to... thread in tLL. But in general I know where to avoid if reading something would get to me. sometimes you need a good cry though. if I'm feeling down or thinking about my mam I'd purposely look in those though just so you can see there's other people that feel or have felt the same.

Read the PI threads quite a bit, always gives me a better perspective on things in my own life when i see what some people are going through.

Also the Depression thread that was in AH recently, that was a wonderful thread.

Reading other peoples lifes keeps me going sometimes, makes me get up of my arse and move forward, it can be both inspriational and grounding.

The video of the little Chinese girl being left to die in agony got me going.. The image of her stretching out her little arms to passers by for help, and them strolling past.. I think I died a little inside watching that.
